Barter Your Services
Mar. 26th 2009
If your business is in need of services that you don’t really have a budget for, bartering is a great way to get things done. We recently exchanged marketing and PR services for graphic design work. It was a win-win situation without any cash having to leave our business. Getting involved with your local Chamber of Commerce or business network is a good way to find people and businesses to barter with. Feel free to post bartering opportunities on Garage Entrepreneurs as well. There are a few things to keep in mind when bartering:
- The exchange should be equal so that both parties feel like the trade was fair.
- You should have a verbal or written agreement before the exchange so that both parties understand the arrangement.
- In some countries and states, you have to put a dollar value on the bartered services and pay taxes on the dollar amount. Make sure your business follows any laws and regulations regarding bartering so you don’t run into trouble.
